Two well-known Kilbirnie families were united by the marriage which took place recently of Priscilla Agatha, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs S A Levin, "Antibes," Evans Bay Road, to William John, elder son of Mrs Flipp and the late Mr Frank Flipp, 256 Coutts Street, Kilbirnie.
The bride wore a moon blue wool coat trimmed with Canadian sable, a matching felt hat with a coque feathered cockade, and accessories to tone.
At the reception, which was held at the Hotel Waterloo, Mr and Mrs Levin received 120 guests, including many prominent business people. A victory wedding gesture was the presentation by the bride's father of £500 to the Victory War Loan. A tier of the wedding cake was sent to friends serving with the Forces in the Middle East.

Wedding Bells:
On Thursday 12th inst; a very interesting ceremony took place in the Presbyterian Church Cromwell when Miss Anne Jemima Elliot, daughter of Mrs Elliot of the Nevis, was united in the matrimonial bond to Mr John Theyers, son of Mr Theyers of Alexandra, who has been a resident of Nevis for about two years, being connected with the dredging industry there. The bride wore a white figured silk lustre, trimmed with deep silk lace and silver beads, and the usual veil and orange blossoms. Miss Isabel Elliot, sister of the bride, who acted as bridesmaid was dressed in a beautiful dress of shot green material, with a shot pink front, trimmed with passementerie. Miss Ethel McNulty, the other bridesmaid wore a white cambric dress, pink sash and a white lace picture hat, and the three formed a charming trio. The groom was supported by Mr James Theyers, his younger brother, as best man. Mr James Ritchie brother-in-law of the bride gave her away in a very paternal manner. After the ceremony, the wedding party were entertained at breakfast at the residence of Mr E McNulty. After the usual toasts and speeches, the happy couple left for Dunedin amid a shower of rice, slippers, good wishes and cheers.

The Distinguished Conduct Medal.
No 1176 Corporal Walter Thomas Weir, New Zealand Military Forces.

FOR CONSPICUOUS GALLANTRY:
At Galatos on the 22 May 41 the Div Cav was defending the village occupying a defensive line along the western boundary of the village. A determined attack was made on that date by the enemy and the right flank was thrown back exposing the village. This was caused by the enemy gaining high ground on our right flank and enfilading our positions. Cpl WEIR covered the withdrawal with a captured enmy MAXIM gun which he had aquainted himself with. This was done at great personal risk. In additon to covering the troops with-drawing his action gave our troops time to organise and subsequently launch a counter attack which resulted in re-capturing our original posns. Cpl WEIR later instructed others in the use of MAXIM guns which was invaluable. During the whole CRETE CAMPAIGN his devotion to duty and example and initiative were outstanding an inspiring to others.
