15048 | The Date of 17 Sept 1830 for birth is recorded on John's death certificate and is also recorded on his headstone. I am uncertain if the date of 1830 is correct due to his baptism being on the 18th Sept 1831 and parents only married in 1830 (not that that is unusual to have a child prior to marriage and then baptised later after marriage) Certainly the Census records indicate his birth is 1831. I have no proof to which year of birth is correct either 1830 or 1831. | Cain, John Caesar (I640)

15050 | The Domain Board's Recent Work: (column 2/3 of page) At a meeting of the Domain Board held last evening a rather warm discussion took place upon the outlay on the new grounds. When the items of expenditure were read out, from a freturn prepared as follows - Bowling green formation £40. 16s.1d; water supply £42. 10s.3d. Mr Pauling challenged the item £42.10s.3d. He mentioned that the figures should have given more information. It was all very well to put down special expenditure on the bowling, tennis, and croquet grounds, but what about the curator's work, the labor of the Council's men, and the wear and tear of the horses, plant etc ? Second reference:- Mr Pauling said it was all very well to twit the chairman, but they were all in it. He, however, wanted to see what the Domain had cost in the work of horses and the men, and so on, which was not shown in the return before them. Why was all the cost not shown ? | Pauling, James Henry (Gibson) (I555)
