Ship 1085 Tons, sailed Glasgow 25th March 1876 and arrived Lyttelton 1st July 1876
This fine vessel, prior to the amalgamation with the Shaw Savill Co, was owned by the Albion Co. She was a typical emigrant ship of 1085 tons register, and was built specifically to carry passengers from the Clyde to Dunedin. The accomodation was in the 'tween decks, the space being divided into three by bulkheads, single women being in the after compartment, married amidships, and single men in the forward compartment. The City of Dunedin completed ten voyages to Port Chalmers, direct from Scotland.

SHEPHERD Margaret, 11

Arrived Port Adelaide July 3rd 1914, she had 43 passengers for Adelaide and 322 for the eastern States.
She sailed from Port Adelaide July 7th for Eastern States.
Due Melbourne 6th and Sydney 16th.
Arrived Melbourne July 9th
Arrived Sydney 13th July
due to sail from Sydney to Capetown July 22
P and O branch liner
says leaves Sydney July 23, Melbourne 28, Adelaide Aug 2 due Durban 22 London Sept 19

So this ship did not carry the Shepherd family on to New Zealand.
They would have most likely caught a regualar ship going between Sydney and either Wellington or Auckland. Search done up to 31 July 1914 of shipping arrivals to Wellington, Auckland and New Plymouth but even though suspect some of the ships from Sydney only saloon passengers were mentioned in the newspapers and steerage just a number.
