| 6904 | [CENTER:]Two Killed in car accident[:CENTER] Two 16 year olds were killed on Saturday night as a result of a motor accident on the Hinakura Rd, four miles east of Martinborough. They were Andrew Ian Stuart Cameron, High St,, Masterton, and Marion Lily Corlett, Cologne St, Martinborough. Police report the car was travelling on the Martinborough-Hinakura Rd and went out of control, rolled and hit a bank, about 10.50pm. The two people killed were thrown out of the car, and the driver, Brent Allan, Carterton, and another passenger were unhurt. It is believed that Marion Corlett died instantly, while Andrew Cameron died on his way to hospital. they were both students at Kuranui College. | 6941 | "City of Dunedin" Ship 1085 Tons, sailed Glasgow 25th March 1876 and arrived Lyttelton 1st July 1876 This fine vessel, prior to the amalgamation with the Shaw Savill Co, was owned by the Albion Co. She was a typical emigrant ship of 1085 tons register, and was built specifically to carry passengers from the Clyde to Dunedin. The accomodation was in the 'tween decks, the space being divided into three by bulkheads, single women being in the after compartment, married amidships, and single men in the forward compartment. The City of Dunedin completed ten voyages to Port Chalmers, direct from Scotland. White Wings - Sir Henry Brett This voyage had No Sickness on board and took only 97 days, and on board were 276 souls, equal to 237 adults. Also landed in Adelaide, South Australia and it is from that alpha passenger list that it states to New Plymouth via Sydney. P & O Branch Service 3rd Class Ticket No 262 SHEPHERD Edmund, Publican, 58 SHEPHERD Mrs Elizabeth, Wife, 56 SHEPHERD Margaret, 11 Arrived Port Adelaide July 3rd 1914, she had 43 passengers for Adelaide and 322 for the eastern States. She sailed from Port Adelaide July 7th for Eastern States. Due Melbourne 6th and Sydney 16th. Arrived Melbourne July 9th Arrived Sydney 13th July due to sail from Sydney to Capetown July 22 P and O branch liner says leaves Sydney July 23, Melbourne 28, Adelaide Aug 2 due Durban 22 London Sept 19 So this ship did not carry the Shepherd family on to New Zealand. They would have most likely caught a regualar ship going between Sydney and either Wellington or Auckland. Search done up to 31 July 1914 of shipping arrivals to Wellington, Auckland and New Plymouth but even though suspect some of the ships from Sydney only saloon passengers were mentioned in the newspapers and steerage just a number. | Shepherd, Edmund (I4798)

| 6950 | "Shackamaxon" arrived in Port Adelaide South Australia, 19th January 1853. Many deaths on board (63), and an investigation was held once the ship arrived in SA. There was 650 immigrants aboard. Two of the deaths occurred within the Forrest family. Newspapers stated many of the deaths were due to influenza.
