Edna was unable to get to The Maternity Hospitals in Christchurch, so Edna needed to go to Dunedin. Her father Adam Scott was the Station Master in Christchurch at the time, and he made sure that Edna was put in a first class compartment. This would have been for the birth of Brian. During the time they stayed at Heathcote, Adam used to come and visit with his daughter Edna each lunch time. After the war the family moved back to Dunedin.
