  Occupation	Carpenter: Shipwright: and Retired Railway Employee on various documents. Jack served an apprenticeship as a shipwright (a ship building carpenter) with Miller & Tunnage - Port Chalmers. Was with the Railways until approx 1931, then went to Waitaki Hydro Contruction until 1934, then back to Dunedin. Recommenced employment with the Railways and was with them until he retired in 1965.
