Wedding Bells:
On Thursday 12th inst; a very interesting ceremony took place in the Presbyterian Church Cromwell when Miss Anne Jemima Elliot, daughter of Mrs Elliot of the Nevis, was united in the matrimonial bond to Mr John Theyers, son of Mr Theyers of Alexandra, who has been a resident of Nevis for about two years, being connected with the dredging industry there. The bride wore a white figured silk lustre, trimmed with deep silk lace and silver beads, and the usual veil and orange blossoms. Miss Isabel Elliot, sister of the bride, who acted as bridesmaid was dressed in a beautiful dress of shot green material, with a shot pink front, trimmed with passementerie. Miss Ethel McNulty, the other bridesmaid wore a white cambric dress, pink sash and a white lace picture hat, and the three formed a charming trio. The groom was supported by Mr James Theyers, his younger brother, as best man. Mr James Ritchie brother-in-law of the bride gave her away in a very paternal manner. After the ceremony, the wedding party were entertained at breakfast at the residence of Mr E McNulty. After the usual toasts and speeches, the happy couple left for Dunedin amid a shower of rice, slippers, good wishes and cheers.
