I give and bequeath the following:-
(a) the sum of Ten pounds to each of them my nieces Isa Davidson, Lillian Gooch, Alice Martin, Joyce Henry and May Church.
(b)The chesterfield suite owned by me at the date hereof at present in my front sitting-room all plate plated goods linen china glass books prints pictures furniture and other articles of household use or ornamentation owned by me and in my dining-room at my death to my nephew Hector McMillan and his wife Isobel McMillan in equal shares should they both survive me but should only one of them survive me then to that one alone.
(c) All tools ( including gardening tools) owned by me at the date of my death the Electrolux vacuum cleaner owned by me at the date hereof all plate plated goods linen china glass books prints pictures furniture and other articles of household use or ornamentation owned by me and in my front sitting-room at my death except the chesterfield suite bequeathed by the foregoing clause (b) of this paragraph 2 of this my will to my nephew John McMillan and his wife Daisy McMillan in equal shares should they both survive me but should only one of them survive me then to that one alone.
(d) All plate plated goods linen china glass books prints pictures furniture and other articles of household use or ornamentation owned by me and in my front bedroom at my death to Betty McMillan (widow of my late nephew Albert McMillan) and my niece Nellie Taylor in equal shares should they both survive me but should only one of them survive me then to that one alone.
(e) The grandfather clock owned by me at the date hereof at present in my hall to my niece Marjory McSherry.
(f) All plate plated goods linen china glass books prints pictures furniture and other articles of household use or ornamentation owned by me and in my hall at my death except the grandfather clock bequeathed by the foregoing clause (e) of this paragraph 2 of this my will to my nephew Allan Kempthorne and his wife Joan Kempthorne in equal shares should they both survive me but should only one of them survive me then to that one alone.
(g) All plate plated goods linen china glass books prints pictures furniture and other articles of household use or ornamentation (exluding motor-cars) owned by me at my death and not hereinbefore otherwise disposed of to such of them my nieces Maggie Leckie the said Isa Davidson and Nellie Taylor as survive me and if more than one in equal shares.
3. After all debts funeral and testamentary espenses paid the residue divided into four equal parts to be held upon the following trusts namely:-
(a) As to one of such parts for such of the children of my late nephew Albert McMillan as survive me and if more than one in equal shares.
(b) One part for my nephew Hector McMillan or his children if he predeceases me
(c) One part for my nephew John McMillan or to his wife Daisy McMillan should he predecease me
(d) One part to my niece Sadie Hill, or to her children should she predeceases me.
Codicil Dated: 25th Nov 1955
1. I give and bequeath the following:-
(a) The ladies gold wrist-watch owned by me at the date hereof to Annette McMillan (daughter of my late nephew Albert McMillan)
(b) The wedding ring and the engagement ring both of which are owned by me at the date hereof to Daisy McMillan (wife of my nephew John McMillan)
(c) I direct that all estate and succession duty payable in respect of the foregoing bequests shall be paid by my trustee in accordance with the directions in that behalf contained in paragraph 3 of my said will.
2. I direct that my said will shall be read and construed as if prior to the execution thereof the name "Nellie Taylor" in line 5 of clause 2 (d) thereof had been deleted and the names and words "Winifred Gerston of Port Chalmers (daughter of my brother John Kemp)" had been substituted therefor.
3. In all other respects I confirm my said will.
