  	From the baptisms of his children, William and his family were residing at Abbey. There was a Abbey Burn which was on the boundary of Carnwath and Carstairs. A stream which arises in Carnwath near Climpy, and forms the boundary between Carstairs and Carnwath Parishes, it receives this name to where the parish road crosses it a little North of Lower Throughburn. There is also a Farmstead property of Robert Monteith Esq. c 1816 It is most likely the Farm or just around it that William was living at.

  Notes	As William's Death Certificate does not list his parents names, and his marriage would have occurred before Civil Reg and also cannot be located as the OPR records are missing for that time frame, It is making it very difficult to find out exactly who William's parents might have been. Everyone seems to be stuck on this Brick Wall as well. Only if William Scott had other Brothers or Sisters in which descendants have tested with DNA will be able to locate some details.

Need to now look at Cairstairs OPR but as the Carnwath OPR's for marriages only start at 1826, most likely the record will not be located. There is only one record for a Scott married to a Watson around the time frame. this is a William Scott married to a Margaret Watson Oct 15 1822, but at Campsie in Stirling. this is close but not close enough for the places, but still a possilbe if I could find more information. This is not the correct marriage, as they had a child called William Scott in 1824 Campsie. No Proclamation located in Carnwath or Carstairs Kirk Session Accounts from 1819 - 1824 - lots of details not recorded
