Mrs C WHITE
Widow of Capt David Henry White, who died 17 years ago, Mrs Charlotte White, of The Moorings, Fort Road, Newhaven died on Thursday of last week and was buried at the Newhaven Cemetery on Tuesday. Her husband was captain in the cross-channel steamers for many years and for some times prior to his death was berthing master at the Newhaven Harbour.
Mrs White, who was aged 86, was a native of Worthing, and had lived at Newhaven for about 56 years. She is survived by a son, Mr D H White, of Littlehampton, who was an officer in the cross-channel steamers for some time, and a daughter Miss L White.
Owing to the ill-health of her daughter, Mrs White's interment was preceded by a service at the residence, and the Rev. S Newby (rector) officiated. The committal service was conducted by the Rev. J S Martin (curate). The mourners were Mr and Mrs D H White, of Littlehampton (son and daughter in law), Mr F J White, of Telscombe Cliffs (brother in law) and Mrs W J Peters of Hove (niece).
